The Gateway Centre
The Guild Church of St MARTIN-WITHIN-LUDGATE is situated on Ludgate Hill near St Paul's cathedral and almost opposite City Thameslink station. We are open on weekdays and do not charge for admission. Many visit us to look at this beautiful Wren church restored in 1684 or to find some rest and peace in a warm quiet space in the busy working week. Others come to pray, to light a candle, to explore the Christian faith and to meet with God. Some seek pastoral support and bereavement counselling.
There is a special connection with solicitors firms since our priest in charge is also chaplain to law firms in the City. We are a growing Christian community and meet in smaller groups to explore the Christian faith during the working week. The church is also used for special services such as carol services and weddings and for musical concerts. You will find out more about us from the links on this page and are most welcome to contact us direct or visit.

Gateway Centre Appeal
I am very pleased to say that we launched our fundraising campaign for the renovation of the south gallery in St Martin’s on the 6th October 2010. At a reception for representatives of businesses and livery companies, we outlined our vision for the new Gateway centre providing affordable counselling. It was a fantastic evening with jazz music (thanks to the Norman Moy Trio) and a dramatic narration of the church’s history whizzing through several centuries in ten minutes!
Presently work has reached maximum demolition stage and construction has started. The gallery floor is now being lowered and we look forward to newly renovated counselling facilities in the New Year.
